Kathleen Collins

Artistic Director – Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary

A Savannah, Georgia native, Kathleen began Classical Ballet training at age 5 with Ebba Olesen Thomson. She continued her studies as a professional dancer with The Savannah Ballet, under the tutelage of Bojan Spassoff and Stephanie Wolfe-Spassoff (current Directors of The Rock School of Dance Education), and later with Karena Brock-Carlyle (current Director of Hilton Head Dance Theatre).  While dancing with The Savannah Ballet, Kathleen had the opportunity to perform and study with such Ballet luminaries as Peter Martins, Suzanne Farrell, Daniel Duell, Heather Watts, Kathleen Haighney, Kim Hightower, and Robert Weiss.  Kathleen began her teaching career at The School of The Savannah Ballet in 1978.  In 1991 she opened her first dance studio on Whitemarsh Island.  She was also Artistic Director of Neo Fusion Dance Company from 1995 – 2001, receiving the “Celebrate Savannah” award for outstanding community contribution from The Georgia Guardian. Kathleen has performed in all the major classical ballets, both in solo and ensemble roles, and numerous neo-classical, modern, jazz, and contemporary works. She has continued her dance education through classes and workshops with top instructors and organizations including Robert Barnett, Terrell Paulk, Sean Curran, Arthur Aviles, Janice Barringer, Frank Hatchett,  Pavel Rotauru, The Royal Academy of Dance, Martha Graham Company, Paul Taylor 2, Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, and The Atlanta Ballet, to name just a few. For the past 20 plus years she has been on faculty with some of the area’s top dance studios and has created an impressive catalog of original choreography. She is thrilled to bring her talent, energy, and passion for dance to the West Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, and greater Savannah areas.

Diane Schaffner

Tap, Ballet, Modern, Jazz

Diane is a Louisiana native who began her dance training at age 8.  She has performed with The Red Shoes Dance Studio in Louisiana, the university dance troupe at Texas Christian University, and Twin City Ballet.  Diane has over 7 years of teaching experience with The Red Shoes Dance Studio in Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, and Gymnastics.  She has studied with many outstanding teachers including Alwin Nicholais, Joan Lawson, Lisa Fusillo, Fernando Schaffenburg, Jerry Bywaters Cochran, and others.  Diane has a degree in General Studies from Northeast Louisiana University, and 21 years of homeschool instruction experience.  She is a past instructor with the Eclectic Academy of Learning in Savannah.  Diane brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to our studio.

Craig Woodham

Partnering/Pas de Deux, Modern

Craig began his ballet training with Ballet Mobile and continued his professional dancing career with Nashville Ballet, Atlantic Dance Theatre, Ballet Antique, and Tennessee Dance Theatre, before arriving in Savannah.  He has been a guest artist with several local companies and schools including Ballet South, Islands Dance Academy, and The Academy of Dance.  Craig was Cofounder, and Co-Artistic Director of Neo-Fusion Dance Company from 1995 – 1997, and he has taught Ballet, Modern, and Partnering classes, on all levels, for 20+ years.

    The production on Saturday May 21, 2016 of Cinderella was Fantastic! The response from the audience was extremely positive and from my observation greatly enjoyed by all that attended!
